The forgotten people Jarso (Oromo ).
Ethnic Oromo-Somali conflict ignited by notorious Abdi iley and his Liyu Police resulted in the displacement of around 1 million oromo people from the Somali regional state. During the above conflict, the Liyu Police killed and displaced oromo people who were settling in Jigjiga, dagahbur, wajale, harta sheikh, awbare, Tuliguled and several kebeles and villages under the Chinaksan districts. We are not people from other place but we are the people of Jigjiga, its our ancestors land and we have great history in this city, what Abdi iley did to our people was like what the Burma (Myanmar) Government did to the Rohing people. this is unacceptable that he denied us and throw us out of our birth place.
Additionally the Liyu Police set fire around 60 houses owned by the oromo villagers between jigjiga and chinaksan specialy in the Tuurkeyro, Koralay and Warfa’ayeed, El Ahmar, Sheekh Hassan kebeles. The villagers still did not get support from the government apart from their relatives and Chinaksan administration who donated their salary to provide shelter for the displaced people.
The elders informed this issue for the command post but still no solution. The rural community are claiming that the command post are partial as they are hearing mainly the claims from the somali side compared to the claims of oromo citizens.
Around 20 people from Jigjiga, Chinaksan and the surrounding kebeles are in the notorious prison known as Jail Ogaden who are receiving daily torture, abuse, intimidation and refusal of their relatives to visit while the only reason for their imprisonment is as due to their being of oromo. The Chinaksan administration and the elders give the names of the prisoners to the Command post but still no one is released.
Some of political prisoners were released by Abdi iley earlier on april 2018 from this Notorious Jail but he was deliberately remained the Jarso prisoner due to their being of oromo nationality.
